Go now, and have your mind blown by the work of Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo. I have been bookmarking artists whose work I wish to buy and you can be I’ll be spending a few dollars here. Lovely stuff.

le droit de suite (the resale right) - VA (by Pierre-Emmanuel Lyet)

A short and sweet animation about artists’ resale rights in Europe, with a very clever use of typography.

Great use of typography!

Photo 6 Jul Maggie and the wind: Another old drawing from 2003 found its way under my watercolor brush. Anyone remember this one? I was experimenting with drawing with my left hand at the time (I’m right handed), and had so much fun I continued. Anyhow I think this one turned out pretty well. I am personally entranced by Ms. Maggie’s sad stare.

Photo 6 Jul A much nicer version of The Lion. I’ve had this drawing since 2003… and had rendered it initially in Adobe Illustrator. A few folks may remember that version. I had always kept the line drawings I’d used for it, and planned on watercoloring it up someday. Well someday arrived, and I’ve finished. I thoroughly enjoyed the painting process.
